Partnership for significant improvement in education
West Aurora School District 129 has decided an international educational consultant to implement wide changes to how students learn at all levels and disciplines. When listed as “underperforming” in the rating system for school, the school has decided to hire consulting firm to develop in education system and the rating system used 10 weighted factors such as standardized test scores, academic proficiencies and nonattendance as well as graduation rates. The school reached a third-year and has deal with United Kingdom based on challenges in Learning. Challenging Learning’s approach encourages students to gain out of box educational experience and become independent.
The educational consultants are focused on learning and teaching culture in the school to one that will promote struggle, challenge and ultimately the success of students. School administrators and principals recently participated in the study tour that arranged by company in England and Scotland.
Consultant effect on students and teacher’s life
Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) signed law by President Barack Obama in December 2015 and represents good news for nation’s schools. It replaced previous No Child Left Behind law. ESSA essentially governs the public education system to ensure all students get a quality education. For example, high school graduation rates are at all-time highs. Dropout rates are at historic lows. And more students are going to college than ever before. These achievements provide a firm foundation for further work to expand educational opportunity and improve student outcomes under ESSA.
The above mentioned partnership will include additional funding from state and federal resources, school officer stated Schools classified as underperforming receive $15,000 in federal funds with the intent that the resources will be used to drive professional development focused on improving student achievement. According to ESSA act, school can develop their education system and getting fund with restructure their rating in the list.Challenging Learning was selected because of its long-term development process that embraces the curiosity, complexity and joy of learning.
Teachers becomes organizer of conversations and encourage students to become critical thinkers and deeper to resolve questions. The kids were not just sitting at their desk and taking notes from teacher but they are having discussions and asking questions to one another. The partnership with the UK group is the only one in the US currently but it could become a national model once fully implemented.
“We knew that if we kept doing what we had always done, we would keep getting the same results. That is why we looked for a unique partner who could give us what we have not received before in terms of long-term professional development. Challenging Learning, although not well known in the United States, has made a considerable impact on the educational systems in England, Scotland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden,” assistant superintendent for teaching and learning Brent Raby said.
