Aims to Reduce Stress and Anxiety for Families and Teens Nationwide

The world now is at the pace where ‘change is a constant’ phrase has never been so truer. A big change has become a new normal in business. And while the creativity, innovation, and disruption are the hottest new commodities in business, government and education fail to capture the modern movement of the accelerated invention. Studies show that more than 30% of teenagers have been diagnosed with anxiety and/or depression, and in reality, extreme stress is rising rapidly. While it’s difficult to pinpoint the root of this stress to one particular cause, published research has shown that 70% of surveyed students identify the school as their primary source of stress. This may be due to the modern classroom not conducive to the modern student. The modern learning spaces are designed for students and can cause classrooms that function through command and control to lose their footing. This shift to spaces can destabilize the current system, but classrooms that currently allow for voice, active learning, and movement will feel a positive bounce from the changes.

The world is celebrating transformative imagination. Public education is not.

To help improve the system and support active classrooms educational entrepreneurs are leading the way, serving as incubators for educational breakthroughs. Leaders like Gil and Carrie Gibori created The House Tutoring Lounge— a modern student study center designed to create a safe space for students to connect, learn, and grow.

Gil and Carrie have a decade of experience in the tutoring industry, worked to tackle the cumulated challenges their students and families were experiencing over the years. Both have felt the power of mindfulness for effective learning. After unique insight garnered at the apex of schools, mental health professionals, and after school educational support, they came all through age-old education model and why it’s not simply working for the contemporary student.

The House Tutoring Lounge

Gil Gibori said that if students’ problem has listened, the problem is clear. They are tired of being forced into a learning model that sucks the life out of them. They are tired of being disengaged in their learning, seeking a fresh space in which control rests in their hands. The House is that space.

The House tutoring lounge takes a novel (personalized) approach to extracurricular education support, providing middle school and high school students with a parent-free oasis to recharge, inspire one another, and work at their own pace and with their own rules.

  • A safe place for students to meet their parents’ expectations without having them hovering over their shoulder.
  • The House offers an innovative approach with homework help and on-demand private tutoring ordered via an app. The app will allow students to seek help when they want, for a long as they want, with whom they want.
  • The House is a membership model with amenities included and private tutoring at an hourly rate.
  • So far, in the first 10 months, The House has logged nearly 16,000 student hours, and more than 7,500 tutoring hours, proving their disruptive concept to be an effective and lucrative retail model.
